  1. I was wondering if there is supposed to be keyboard functionality for the Maxi while using ScummVM mode. If not, is this feasible?

    Thank you very much!

  2. Hi guys, is it normal that when you get out of the settings menu back to the carousel you can hear to different songs playing in the background? im using THE SPECTRUM.

I also having lots of problems of speed, booting is terribly slow, also using the menus and changing settings… sometimes needs MINUTES to show the carousel after changing options, the background music stutters a lot…

I also trying to find info about how to add games to THE SPECTRUM carousel but I cant find anything specific, documents and web are both very confusing.

I not sure if Im doing something wrong or the software is just not ready for The Spectrum.

  3. i managed to flash the original carousel mode, but the project carousel loads again, and i am not sure if the partition i created in the FEL mode is back to original.

    Thanks

      1. shall explane PCUAE uses boot script to start from usb stick does do nothing to your firmware it only installs boot script
so you can boot PCUAE and you can remove it from firmware it is in settings menu

        gr Wizart 🙂

  4. I am installing on USB the Restore Kit with the intention of eliminate the firmware from PCUAE and project carousel from my A400 mini, however when i do so, nothing happens and not all the combo keys i tried bring me to any menu where i may restore my A400 to the original estate.

    Please any help is welcome,

    Thanks

      1. thanks! i tried the repair kit from settings finally, but i am not sure wich option needs to be chosen, one says return to original nand, but when you enter there it says “return to project carousel nand” so is confusing, then other says “the a400 on C64” also confusing,

Please clarify! I am pretty happy with the C64 carousel but i only use it for adding more games to it, in the a400 i learnt too late i cannot add games, and i want my machine original.

      1. Hi there,
Interesting – is there a file that should be present that I can check? I ran the installation twice starting from scratch on 2 different brand new 32GB SanDisk USB drives (fresh FAT32 formatted) with the same effect. I can see that the USB can be written to during installation as files were present in the “pcuae_option_flag_files” folder. Preview mode also works, so it appears the USB can be read from and written to fine. I’m using the latest/greatest C64 Mini 1.6.1 firmware, if the version matters – I didn’t see this mentioned. I had never installed PCUAE on this C64 Mini before – this is a fresh install for the firmware. Any tips on which files to check would be much appreciated! Thank you.

        1. You got my hopes up for a moment – but alas, changing the USB port did not help. I would have been surprised if it was that easy – it’s on the same bus, after all 😉 Thanks for checking the image on your side – no idea what the issue here is. Let’s see if anyone else reports something similar over time. For now I just boot to normal firmware, run the “fake” firmware update from there, and launch preview mode to view my custom carousel (nice!). It takes about 3 minutes to get to that point, though. I don’t have another brand of USB stick handy to try out, but I’ll keep that suggestion in mind for the future. Cheers!

        2. Sure – thanks for taking a look. I don’t see a way to attach the file, so I’ll copy and paste it below. Hopefully it will still be readable after submitting. Let me know if you see anything. I see one error about “dd: writing ‘/dev/fb0’: No space left on device”. Note: This run is the one I described above, booting into normal firmware and then launching PCUAE in preview mode. Thanks!

        3. I also tried installing from scratch again to see if there would be any useful information. There were no log files in the .systeminfo folder, however. Same effect as before – it boots straight into the normal firmware after everything indicates a successful installation. All checks pass.. I chose the “Easy” install method this time, I had run the Advanced installation once before, too, with no luck.
I actually don’t see any downside to running in preview mode since I only use one custom carousel. Other than the long boot time (about 3 minutes). Are there any option flags I can set to have it skip the installation process and boot straight into preview mode to speed up the process? That might be a viable work-around for me. Thank you.

        4. Did you see anything of concern in the log file? I had already tried the CBM image last week with no luck. It had the exact same problem. The installation looks successful, but it boots to the normal firmware.
This is the first time I am using PCUAE. I haven’t tried any older versions. If you think this issue is avoided by falling back to a previous version, I am open to trying that out. Thanks.
